Teachers support five candidates
The Morgan Hill Federation is proud to endorse Steve Klem, David Gerard, Ron Woolf and Donna Foster-Ruebusch for the Morgan Hill Unified School District, and Claudia Rossi for the Santa Clara County Board of Education - Area 7. The teachers in Morgan Hill believe voters should know which candidates are truly dedicated to supporting all of our students.
Steve Klem lives in South San Jose. He was a parent leader when his children went through Morgan Hill schools, and is now the father of a teacher and the grandfather of a student in the district. He was the president of the Los Paseos Aquatics Club for many years. He will bring his experience as a community organizer and volunteer to our district leadership which is seeking ways to engage parents and community members.
David Gerard will bring his background in leadership development to the MHUSD school board. As part of Leadership Morgan Hill, David learned about many different aspects of our community. David's contacts and skills will be invaluable as the District reaches out to create more community partnerships.
Donna Foster-Ruebusch has been a parent, teacher, and teacher leader in our district. As a union leader, Donna worked to change our evaluation system and advocated that teachers be held to the highest standards of professionalism. She has extensive knowledge of the new budget system and policy making that will help ensure that the district's main focus is to support student success.
Incumbent Ron Woolf is the face of Mushroom Mardi Gras, which provides valuable scholarship opportunities for our students. Ron's service as a teacher, ASB Director, and administrator give him a unique perspective on the board. While Ron is the board's connection to the history of MHUSD, he is also a passionate advocate for providing the technology, resources, and curriculum students need to succeed in the 21st century.
MHFT joins teachers in Evergreen, Oak Grove, Gilroy and East Side Union in endorsing Claudia Rossi for the Santa Clara County School Board (Area 7). Claudia has proved to be an excellent board member at MHUSD. She studies issues from all sides soliciting input from community members, district staff, and teachers. Recognizing the diversity of the area she will represent, Claudia spent the last few months learning about each district in Area 7.
The MHFT and our endorsed candidates believe that neighborhood public schools are a vital and dynamic part of our community. We believe that our children learn the importance of community at school by learning with each other, from each other, and about each other.

Former MHUSD trustee supports Rossi
I am in the unique position of having worked on the Morgan Hill Unified School District with both candidates running for Santa Clara County Board of Education. I am voting for Claudia Rossi.
Ms. Rossi has demonstrated she is intelligent, hard working and very involved with the community. She was one of the founding members of Project Roadway, a program which involves parents and students, for first-time college bound pupils.
Her opponent, Ms. Hover-Smoot, during the last election to her present post, stated she was not going run a campaign and threw her support to the man she felt was better suited to the job. This time she didn't write a candidate statement to tell us why she wants the job.
Claudia Rossi is the better candidate.
Kathy Sullivan, Morgan Hill, Former MHUSD Trustee
